The Shape of Things to Come

Since 2002 XLR8R Magazine has been providing numerous City Guides by reaching out to the real people in the know and as apart of this feature have gone to numerous DJs for bespoke one city mixes. This podcast see’s one of the best titles from across the pond hook up with Starkey and Dev 79 for a guide to Philly.  Philly is often the slept on city of the East Coast, but with exports such as Jazzy Jeff, Beanie Sigel amongst numerous others, it really shouldn’t be only remembered for that Rocky scene.

Also XLR8R are seriously in the know, I first came across the magazine in 2006 while in the states and they were even talking about Dubstep then. That issue was it’s 100th and pretty damn amazing. I think I’m going to scan in the feature, it’s a great read. I especially enjoy good American writing from the likes of XLR8R and The Fader (of which featured a hyperlink to little old me) when they discuss British music. It gives a wonderfully holistic view of what’s happening, it’s heartwarming and not driven by an agenda as much as the sloppy 2bit celebrity scene commentators. Oh and if you had any doubts still about XLR8R’s credentials, they featured Joker on this months cover and Cooly G on the one before that!!! Seriously, UK publications really need to step their game up.
