Posted by Nick on December 21st, 2009David Shirgley is one of the great British treasures that bubbles underneath the service of mainstream recognition, garnering support and praise along the way. From Macclesfield, a northern town which was bleakly showcased in the exemplary film ‘Control’ which documented the rise and demise of another British treasure Ian Curtis. The simplicity of Shirgley’s work is fantastic and the wit, irony and humor portrayed throughout is truly brilliant. I particularly like the Heroin and Cocaine salt and pepper shakers.
