Ever thought about what would happen if 8-bit pixel computer games invaded New York City? Well Patrick Jean has the answer.
This is an incredible piece of digital visualization from One More Production.
Cuba is famed for many things, Communism, Castro, Cigars, Rum and Boxing. Dominating the sport at Olympic level and beyond, generations of young boys seek respite from the tough, unforgiving life that plagues the Island’s streets. ‘Sons of Cuba’ is a documentary about one of the many boxing academies across the nation that develop young boxers who conquer the art of boxing on the World stage. This is a snapshot of nationalism, a pride that is inextricably linked to sporting excellence at a time when Castro is at his weakest, when the nation’s political system and way of life for over 50 years at its most vulnerable.
One of my favorite tracks off of Pill’s latest mixtape ‘4075: The Refill’. It’s nice to have a different visual than the usual, we’ve got a mixtape, we need a quick video, let’s just shoot it on the streets, flex. Think outside of the box people, even if it’s just for something small to keep the buzz ticking over. Watch Pill and his team; up-and-comers, you could learn a little something.
An incredible timelapse video take in Honalulu, one of the best observatory spots on the planet for star gazing.
Make sure you watch to the 1:20 mark, Pharoahe Monch in the booth, looking forward to hearing the result of this collaboration.
Shy FX’s latest signing to Digital Soundboy, Breakage drops another classic record, this is awesome. I’m loving these slowed down, atmospheric records at the moment. Incredibly dark, ambient music which has made me go digging through the Trip-Hop back catalog. For some reason this type of production makes me yearn for UNKLE, Massive Attack, Tricky and numerous others.
This also goes for a lot of the introspective, dark, ‘what do you call it’ 130bpm house stuff floating around at the moment. I can’t get enough of Breakage, Martyn, Falty DL and several others doing the rounds right now in a very sparse yet finely woven music scene which seems to be driving a plethora of artists and production talents in a whole heap of varied directions.
It really has an intellectual quality to it which has been lacking for me, in Electronic music in recent times. You better have signed the Save Plastic People petition, as without that spot, hardly any of this would be possible.
